PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a welding system by a simple means of low cost. SOLUTION: The welding system of the vehicle body of the automobile is provided with a conveying line (2) for conveying the vehicle body of the automobile to be welded to a welding station (1); and a plurality of pairs of side gates (3a, 3b, 3c, 3d) capable of moving guide means (4, 4a, 8a, 8b). The pairs of the respective side gates are constituted in response to the kind of the vehicle body to be welded. Since the side gates are moved between an active position adjacent to the welding station (1) and at least one parking position far from the welding station (1), individual tractors (11a, 11b) independent from the side gates can be automatically and selectively connected to a different part of the side gates.
