PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a preparation containing a cell extract for cell-free protein synthesis, preservable at room temperature and prepared in a state keeping the biological function of the cell extract and provide a method for producing the preparation. SOLUTION: A freeze-dried preparation containing wheat embryo extract for the cell-free protein synthesis is obtained by removing a system participating in the inhibition of a self protein synthesis reaction from an organism, cleaning the obtained embryo extract with a solution containing a surfactant by ultrasonic treatment and freeze-drying the obtained substance containing the cell extract for cell-free protein synthesis.
