The invention relates to a machine tool, comprising at least one working spindle (22), with a tool housing (35) for a tool supports (34), supporting tools and a tool changer with a grip for the tool support (34), whereby, in order to move the tool support (34) between the magazine position thereof at a separation from the tool housing (35) and the working position thereof in the tool housing (35), a clamping system (41) with a clamping device (42) is arranged in the working spindle, by means of which a tool support (34) inserted in the tool housing (35) may be clamped. The clamping system (41) further comprises a retainer device (43) for a tool holder (34) in the tool housing (35). In a method, applied to said tool machine, the clamping system (41) carries out a holding process before the clamping process in order to grasp the tool holder (34) inserted in the tool housing (35), before the clamping device (42) clamps the tool holder (34). Furthermore, a release process is carried out after the unclamping process, to hold the tool holder (34) in the tool housing (35) after unclamping of the clamping device (42), until the same is ejected. |
