PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a circuit breaker in which an alarm switch member or an auxiliary switch member can be housed, and which does not add constraints to designing of a mechanical unit and a leakage current detection unit regardless of whether the circuit breaker is a circuit breaker for wiring or a ground fault interruptor. SOLUTION: The circuit breaker comprises a body made up of a case and a cover; a power supply terminal housing which is placed at one end of the body, and in which power supply terminals are arranged; a load terminal housing which is placed at the other end of the body, and in which load terminals are arranged; a contact device which is placed on a current passage from the power supply terminals to the load terminals; a switching mechanism which opens and closes the contact device, and includes a handlebar; an overcurrent tripping means which acts on the switching mechanism to open the contact device in overcurrent occurring and the like; and a switch element which is driven by the action of a linkage element following the action of the switching mechanism and outputs a contact signal.
