PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lens unit hardly made large in size even when it is superposed on another member and to provide a digital camera to be easily miniaturized. SOLUTION: The digital camera (1) has an imaging optical system constituted of three lens groups (21, 22 and 23) and a prism (24) and arranged so that its optical axis may turn in an up-and-down direction. Two lens groups (22 and 23) can move in an optical axis direction, and motors (42 and 43) moving the lens groups (22 and 23) and guide shafts (36, 37 and 38) guiding their movement are housed in a lens barrel (50) together with the lens groups (22 and 23). The lens barrel (50) has a 1st section (51) in which the lens groups (22 and 23) are housed and a 2nd section (52) in which the motors (42 and 43) are housed, and the 2nd section (52) is thinner than the 1st section (51).
