PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact scan type display optical system capable of displaying a picture with high-image quality compared with the conventional one. SOLUTION: The scan type display optical system comprises a light source, a first optical system of condensing luminous flux from the light source, a scanning means of scanning the luminous flux from the first optical system, and a second optical system of imaging the luminous flux scanned by the scanning means on a scanning face. When light paths going from the center of the scanning means via the second optical system to the center of the scanning face are defined as optical axes, the optical axes are crossed. Further, the second optical system is composed of two reflectors, and also, both the two reflectors have positive optical power. Further, the first optical system has two reflecting surfaces of an incident surface and a light-emitting surface, and it may be composed of a prism member in which the region surrounded by these surfaces is filled with a medium having a refractive index of >1.
