PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heating value calculation device for measuring the heating value of a mixture gas accurately and quickly. SOLUTION: This heating value calculation device for calculating the heating value of the mixture gas comprising a plurality of kinds of gas components on the basis of a sensor output showing a heat balance between a detection element and a comparison element, output from a catalytic combustion type gas sensor 10 includes a heating value calculation expression generation unit 30A, a sensor output taking means 31a31 for the mixture gas for taking the sensor output corresponding to the mixture gas output from the catalytic combustion type gas sensor 10, a heating value calculation means 31a32 for calculating the heating value of the mixture gas on the basis of the taken sensor output and a heating value calculation expression generated by a heating value calculation expression generation means 31a26, and a heating value information output means 31a33 for outputting in order to inform of the heating value information showing the calculated heating value. A component discrimination information taking means 31a21 is characterized by taking the component discrimination information corresponding to the mixture gas to be measured.
