PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To grow abalones, or the like, while safely protecting the abalones, or the like, from foreign enemies by simply providing settling gaps preferred by the abalones, or the like, greatly growing from spats. SOLUTION: The subject artificial fish reef is obtained by laminating a plurality of fish reef bodies 1 formed from concrete. The plurality of fish reef bodies 1 are mutually laminated and connected to provide living gaps 2 for fishes and shellfishes between the upper and the lower fish reef bodies 1. Furthermore, the fish reef bodies 1 are provided with one or both of opposite surfaces 4 of the living gaps 2 formed into slopes and a plurality of leg parts 5 so that the vertical interval of the living gaps 2 is changed in the horizontal direction. Further, the artificial fish reef is prepared by laminating the plurality of fish reef bodies 1 so that the tips of the leg parts 5 of the mutually laminated fish reef bodies 1 contact the opposite surfaces 4 of the opposite fish reef bodies 1 and forming the living gaps 2 changing the vertical interval in the horizontal direction with the undersurface of the fish reef body 1 in the upper stage and the top surface of the fish reef body 1 in the lower stage.
