<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately determine whether or not a suspicious person is present around a vehicle. <P>SOLUTION: In a vehicle vicinity monitoring system 1, a portion around a vehicle in an image which is captured by an on-vehicle camera 3 while the vehicle is parked is set as a monitoring area, the monitoring area of an image in the past is compared with the monitoring area of a current image, and it is determined whether or not a suspicious person invades the monitoring area from the outside. Differently from the determination of whether or not the suspicious person is present around the vehicle on the basis of radio waves, a dead zone wherein the suspicious person can not be detected does not occur and so-called erroneous detection is not performed, either. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
