<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate level difference between the floor of a car of an elevator and the floor of a landing in low-cost constitution. <P>SOLUTION: In a light transmitter-receiver 24 disposed on the car, an ON-signal is outputted as light from a light transmitting part received by a light receiving part as reflection light from a reflection plate 46 installed on the landing side, and an OFF signal is outputted when it is not received. In a case where the car is in a stand-by state at the same floor as a call-registered floor when call registration based on a wheelchair switch pushed down is detected, a control device detects generation of level difference between the floor 42 of the car and the floor 40 of the landing based on the OFF signal outputted from the light transmitter-receiver 24, then the car is run to the next floor before it is immediately run to the above call-registered floor. The level difference is thus eliminated.
