PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which prevents "hollow defects" and forms an image of high image quality. SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus using an intermediate transfer member, the difference between a contact angle of a surface of an image forming member to water and that of a surface of the intermediate transfer member to water is set to≥15°.
