PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the power consumption due to lighting of a liquid crystal panel, and to prevent the deterioration of the durability of the liquid crystal panel in a digital video camera that is in a state of command waiting. SOLUTION: A control apparatus controls a digital video camera 12 provided with: an imaging section 121 for photographing an image; a recording section 122 for recording image data; a reproducing section 124 for reproducing the image data; a display section 125 for displaying the image data; and a switching section 126 for switching internal modes of an imaging apparatus. In a waiting state of a connection request from a client 20, the display by the display section 125 is brought into a non-display state, and the internal mode of the digital video camera 12 is switched into a reproduction mode wherein the reproducing section 124 reproduces image data. In the case of receiving the connection request from the client 20, the internal mode of the digital video camera 12 is switched into a recording mode wherein the imaging section 121 photographs an image.
