PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gear device and a kick starter of an engine, capable of dispensing with a cost increase and complicated operation by an increase in the number of part items, and capable of easily starting by a kick by reducing compression reaction of a crankshaft in the initial stage of stepping-down without enlarging an engine. SOLUTION: This gear device 41 has a driving gear 42 and a driven gear 43 for forming teeth 42a and 43a on the circumference; and is constituted so that rotary shafts (a kick shaft 38 and an output shaft 21) of the driving gear 42 and the driven gear 43 are deviated from the centers (a and b) of a circle for changing the gear ratio in response to an increase in a turning angle of the driving gear 42.
