The present application relates to a fishing casting practice apparatus 10 for simulating casting using a fishing rod. The apparatus comprises an elongate practice rod 11 with a proximal handle portion 12, the practice rod being of shorter length than a corresponding full-size fishing rod of substantially equal weight thereto. The practice rod is differentially weighted along its length in such a way as to simulate the weight distribution of the corresponding full-size fishing rod when the handle portion is held by a user in the manner of the corresponding full-size fishing rod. The weight and weight distribution of the practice rod may be adjustable. The removable weights may take the form of removable stoppers that are fixable at the proximal and/or distal end. The proximal handle portion 12 and distal rod portion 13 may be connected by means of a push-in ferrule or screw thread joint. |
