The present invention relates to primers and impregnating agents for protecting ropes, netting and fish farming nets against mechanical wear and to prevent fouling. The invention also relates to the use of these primers and impregnating agents for treating ropes, netting and/or nets for fish farming, and to such treated fish farming nets and the production thereof. The impregnating agents and/or primers prevent cod, other relevant fish and animal species from nibbling at the nets.
