The circuit has an inductor and a capacitor (108) with capacitor diodes. A control voltage source applies control voltages with three different stepwise values to the capacitor. The value of the capacitor is reversible by control voltages between different stages. The source includes different current sources which are connected individually to a switch of a load resistor (124) in a network. Independent claims are also included for the following: (A) a method for setting a frequency of an oscillator with an oscillator circuit (B) a controller for controlling an oscillator circuit.
