PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the deviation of the nip position of a fixing roller 2 and a pressure roller 4 from a pre-fixation lower guide plate 12 even when both the rollers 2 and 4 thermally expand. SOLUTION: The fixing device is provided with the fixing roller 2, the pressure roller 4, an external heating means for heating the fixing roller 4 from the outside, and the pre-fixation lower guide plate 12 arranged on the upstream side of the nip part formed by the fixing roller 2 and the pressure roller 4. The fixing roller 2 and the pressure roller 4 are separately provided with metal shafts 2a and 4a, and silicone rubber arranged to cover the shafts 2a and 4a. The fixing roller 2 and the pressure roller 4 come into press contact with each other while the shaft-to-shaft distance is kept constant. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
