The invention relates to a safety system (1) for vehicle passengers, comprising sensors (11, 12) for detecting crash-relevant data such as acceleration values and/or pressure values, a control device (10), and restraint means (13, 14) such as an airbag, safety belt, or similar. The inventive safety system further comprises a connection to a vehicle navigation system (15). Data of said navigation system (15), particularly data regarding the location of the vehicle, is fed to the safety system (1) and is taken into account when a decision about deploying restraint means (13, 14) is made.
