The device for squeezing a sheet of paper (12) comprises two cylinders which are tangent to each other. One cylinder (14) has in a zone on its surface intended to be in contact with the sheet a clamping band (18) comprising relief elements. This cylinder also has a load compensation band (24) comprising second relief elements. The variation of the successive instantaneous active surfaces corresponding to the two bands is less than the variation of successive active surfaces corresponding to the clamping band alone.
