The monitoring method uses measurement of the propagation time of the pressure wave of the substitution fluid feed pump (22) between the latter and the extracorporal blood circuit (5A) for determining the substitution fluid feed ahead or after the blood filter (1). An Independent claim for an extracorporal blood treatment device is also included.
