PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mobile information terminal and a control method thereof capable of avoiding information on a video recording operation of the mobile information terminal from being reported to a third party in spite of the intention of a user during the video recording operation of the mobile information terminal. SOLUTION: When the mobile information terminal 1 executes an ordinary video recording operation, an image of a video-recorded program, a recording time display column 401, and a video-recorded channel display column 402 are displayed on a monitor 40, and a video-recorded state image 401A is displayed in the recording time display column 401. Further, when the mobile information terminal 1 executes a secret operation in the video recording operation and stop of display of the recording time display column 401, the video-recorded channel display column 402, and the video-recorded state image 401A is set as the secret operation, only the image of a video-recorded program is displayed on the monitor 40 during the video recording operation.
