PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stabilize feed operation of an optical pickup under a broad operating temperature environment in a drive mechanism of the optical pickup using a stepping motor. SOLUTION: A stepping motor controller 61 moves the optical pickup 3 to an inner periphery section in two phase excitation drive by two phase excitation drive control section 62 at start time of the device, and detects the pulse rate of a drive current which completes move of the optical pickup 3 in predetermined time. A micro step drive control section 63 increases a current supply period of the drive current by setting supply time multiplied by a coefficient according to the pulse rate as a current supply period at the time of carrying out the micro step drive when the pulse rate at the time of two phase excitation drive is smaller than a reference value. This drive current carries out micro step drive of the stepping motor 4 and the optical pickup 3 is moved in a radial direction of an optical disk 1, and an optical axis correction transfer operation which makes a lens shift amount of an objective lens 5 equal or less than the prescribed value is performed.
