The lock mechanism (1) has a lock cylinder (2) surrounding a chamber (3) containing a rotor (4) with spring-loaded (7) pins (5). A first working face (10) has a keyhole to accommodate a mechanical key (8). The cylinder is fastened to a locking mechanism (21) on a door. The electromagnetic locking mechanism (9) has an unlocking fork (18) with chamfered ends (20) which can push the locking pins aside. The fork is fastened to an electromagnet (17) on the side of the door remote from the keyhole.
