APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR DETERMING THE LOAD OF A VEHICLE

Apparatus (10) and a method are provided for determining the load of a vehicle (12). The load is determined by measuring the distances between wheel axle housings (24) and the chassis (22) of the vehicle in transducers (26), and calculating the load from these distances. Further, the orientation of the vehicle (12) is monitored in an orientation sensor (56), to monitor the accuracy of the calculated load. The position of the vehicle is determined through a tracking system (58) and data relating to the load, orientation and position is displayed on the vehicle and transmitted to be monitored remotely.
