METHOD FOR CORRECTING INCLINED FOGGING IN PLANE IMAGE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique removing mottles formed to the whole picture in a CCD sensed picture, and to provide the technique removing even the inclination of brightness and the mottles changing every hour in the case or the like of the passage of thin clouds on the sides of a moon and a bright fixed star in heavenly-body pictures. SOLUTION: The whole photographed picture is divided into a plurality of small regions in a checked shape, and the central values and standard deviations of picture-element values in each small region are investigated. The values of regions displaying the high standard deviations are set in 0, and the values of the regions displaying normal values excepting the values of the regions displaying the high standard deviations are set at the central values of the regions. The value of the region displaying 0 is extrapolated by averaging values excepting 0 in the periphery. The picture formed in this manner is performed in Gauss graduation process and smoothed and standardized so that the central value of the whole picture elements is set in 1.
