<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an anaerobic treatment method and an anaerobic treatment system by which the concentration of anaerobic sludge in an up-flow anaerobic treatment tank is highly retained, and the treatment efficiency for organic waste water can be improved. <P>SOLUTION: A particulate group composed of inorganic particulates P with a particle diameter of 10 to 1,000μm is added to organic waste water, the organic waste water added with the particulate group is passed through anaerobic sludge G in an up-flow anaerobic treatment tank 30, and the organic waste water is subjected to anaerobic treatment. In this case, the particulates and the anaerobic sludge are coupled to improve the precipitateness of the anaerobic sludge. Thus, the anaerobic sludge in the up-flow anaerobic treatment tank is made hard to flow out from the inside of the anaerobic treatment tank, so as to increase the concentration of the anaerobic sludge.
