PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal analyzer capable of always placing a sample container on a heat-sensitive plate at a constant position, and to provide a thermal analysis method. SOLUTION: The thermal analyzer has the heat-sensitive plate 16 on which the sample container 24 is placed and a fixture 41 equipped with a pair of holes 43 capable of permitting the insertion of the sample container 24 and the positioning of the sample container 24. In this thermal analyzer, the fixture 41 is detachably supported on the heat-sensitive plate 16 at a predetermined position by a cylindrical partition wall 8 being a guide member. The sample container 24 which houses a measuring sample 22 and the sample container 24 which houses a reference substance 23 are respectively inserted in a pair of the holes 43 to be placed on the heat-sensitive plate 16 at a predetermined position.
