PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the reliability of recovery of suction of a recording head, without damaging the filtration performance or rigidity of a filter provided in an ink supply passage for leading ink to the recording head from an ink tank. SOLUTION: A multilayer filter 115 comprises a main filter layer 116 wherein ink retentivity brought about by surface tension of the ink itself is relatively high, and a reinforcing layer 117 wherein the ink retentivity is relatively low. The multilayer filter 115 is provided at the leading end of a tubular member 105 which constitutes the ink supply passage for leading the ink to the recording head from the ink tank, in such a manner that the reinforcing layer 117 is arranged in a position closer to an ejection port of the recording head than the main filter layer 116.
