PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color inkjet recording device which is of a serial scanning type, requires preliminary ejecting operation during recording, wherein the recording device shortens a time period spent for the preliminary ejecting operation during recording to the minimum and outputs a high-definition image at high speed, and to provide an inkjet recording method. SOLUTION: According to the inkjet recording device, the preliminary ejecting operation during recording is carried out to a preliminary ejection port formed in a recording head accelerating zone or a decelerating zone, and the number of times of ejection is set by ink colors according to a moving speed at which a nozzle of each color passes the preliminary ejection port. Thus even if the preliminary ejection port has only a narrow width, necessary preliminary ejection is carried out without stopping scanning of the recording head, and while the time period spent for the preliminary ejection during recording is shortened to the minimum, the recording device having a relatively small configuration can output a high-fidelity image at high speed.
