PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thiophene compound and an organic electroluminescent element containing the same. SOLUTION: This thiophene compound is expressed by formula [wherein, R<SB>1</SB>to R<SB>14</SB>are each H, a halogen atom, a substituted or unsubstituted amino or -(O)<SB>x</SB>-Z group (wherein, Z is a substituted or unsubstituted straight chain, branched or cyclic alkyl, a substituted or unsubstituted aryl or a substituted or unsubstituted aralkyl; and (x) is 0 or 1), and R<SB>1</SB>to R<SB>14</SB>may form a ring together with adjacent groups; and Z<SB>1</SB>to Z<SB>4</SB>are each a halogen atom, a substituted or unsubstituted amino or -(O)<SB>x</SB>-Z group (wherein, Z and (x) are each the same as above)].
