Disclosed is a device for welding or soldering by means of laser radiation. Said device comprises at least one laser light source for generating laser light radiation, means for focusing the laser radiation into a working zone, and means for delivering an additional material to the working zone. The laser radiation is provided with a plurality of partial beams (8) while the inventive device comprises influencing means for at least one of the partial beams (8) in order to influence the light distribution (9) of the laser radiation in the working zone. The additional material is delivered in an area located between the delivering means and the working zone in a direction which corresponds to the mean direction of diffusion of the laser radiation in said area.
