摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suitably execute mode switching of a control mode capable of executing low speed inter-vehicle distance control and a control mode capable of executing high speed inter-vehicle distance control while taking precedence over intention of a driver of the vehicle in an inter-vehicle distance control device. <P>SOLUTION: A mode switching switch for selectively switching the control mode for controlling the inter-vehicle distance with the preceding vehicle to a low speed responding mode capable of executing low speed following control corresponding to a low vehicle speed area and ACC mode capable of executing ACC control corresponding to a high vehicle speed area and exclusively designating it is provided. When the mode switching switch is ON-operated during execution of the low speed following control, the execution of the low speed following control is canceled and the control mode is switched to the low speed following mode to the ACC mode. Whereas, when the mode switching switch is ON-operated during execution of the ACC control, execution of the ACC control is continued and the control mode is not switched from the ACC mode to the low speed following mode. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p>
