PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method, with which a wide-band cholesteric liquid crystal film which has a reflecting band of a wide band and also the haze value of the film is small, can be manufactured, even when the liquid crystal material whose phase transition temperature from a crystal phase to a liquid crystal phase is high (70 to 100°C) is used. SOLUTION: In the method with which a wide-band cholesteric liquid crystal film having reflecting band equal to or higher than 200 nm is manufactured, and which includes a step of applying liquid crystal mixture containing polymerizable mesogen compound (A) and polymerizable chiral agent (B) on an alignment substrate and a step of polymerizing and harden the liquid crystal mixture, by irradiating the liquid crystal mixture with ultraviolet rays, the method includes the step of polymerizing the mixture with irradiation with the ultraviolet rays has a step (1) of irradiating the mixture with the ultraviolet rays for 0.01 to 5 seconds with the irradiation intensity of the ultraviolet rays of 10 to 200 mW/cm<SP>2</SP>under a temperature equal to or higher than 70°C; and next, a step (2) of heat treating the mixture for a period exceeding 5 seconds at a temperature equal to or higher than 70°C, in a state where the liquid crystal layer is in contact with the gas containing oxygen and a step (3) of irradiating the mixture with the ultraviolet rays, under the condition that there is no oxygen after the step (1) and the step (2).
