PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an observing method and an observing device for evaluating a microcapsule in a manufacturing process of a composition containing a solvent and the microcapsule. SOLUTION: The observing device for the sample substance is provided with a discharge means for discharging a liquid containing a plurality of sample substances onto a predetermined position of a sample base in units of predetermined volume, a positioning means for carrying out positioning at discharge of the discharge means to position a discharge position of the liquid discharged by the discharge means in a predetermined position suiting observation, a fixing means for fixing positions of the plurality of sample substances in the discharged liquid in the predetermined position on the sample base, and an observing means for observing the plurality of fixed sample substances.
