PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a work bench for an elevator capable of dispensing with necessity for ensuring an exclusive storage place for storing an erected column of a safety handrail separately and improving handling property and safety. SOLUTION: This work bench for the elevator is provided with a floor plate 4 supported turnably on a bracket 3 fixed to a shaft wall 1, a holding member 5 for attaching its one end to the bracket 3 and the other end to the floor plate 4 to hold the floor plate 4 horizontally, and the erected column 6 of the safety handrail provided on a free end side of the floor plate 4. The erected column 6 of the safety handrail is turnably attached to the floor plate 4 to put it down on the floor plate 4. A fixing device 10 for fixing a condition in which the erected column 6 is erected on the floor plate 4 is provided on the erected column 6 of the safety handrail.
