The piano is provided with a glass sound board to render audible the sound vibrations produced by strings. The sound board has a thickness of 8 millimeters or less, and the sound board can incorporate several individual glass plates. On the glass metal stiffening bars can be glued. The glass plates (2,3) are fitted on the piano metal plate (1) are both rectangular and the gap (4) between them has a width of 3 mm. - The metal plate is made of cast iron and is capable of supporting the strength of the strings (5,6). The strings for the lower tones and those for the higher tones are both in contact with respective ridges (7,8). The strings exert a force via the ridges vertically to the sound board, causing the glass plates slightly to bend.
