<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus capable of surely detecting a feature quantity of a person's face even in the case of a back light or a follow light or the like so as to increase the detection accuracy of the face. <P>SOLUTION: A video signal amplified by a video adjustment section 2 at a prescribed analog gain is written in an image memory 4 via an A/D conversion section 3. When a face detection section 5 detects a face region, a luminance detection section 6 calculates average luminance of the face region, and an adjustment level control section 7 outputs an adjustment level signal providing a prescribed luminance of the face region to the video adjustment section 2. When the face detection section 5 detects no face region, the adjustment level control section 7 discriminates whether or not there is a possibility of detecting the face region, and when the discrimination indicates a possibility, the control section 7 outputs an adjustment level signal to change the analog gain from the present gain to the video adjustment section 2, which changes the analog gain from the present gain to amplify the video signal and carries out again the face region detection processing. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
