PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display panel having a discharge cell structure generating sustaining discharge between a pair of display electrodes as an opposing discharge, in order to overcome the disadvantage of discharge property accompanied by the reduction of the size of the discharge cell. SOLUTION: The plasma display panel comprises a first substrate and a second substrate facing each other; barrier ribs demarcating a plurality of discharge cells arranged in a space between the first electrode and the second electrode; address electrodes arrayed on the second substrate in one direction; first electrodes and second electrodes formed on the second substrate, separated from the address electrodes, jointed to each other in a direction crossing the address electrodes, corresponding to respective discharge cells; and phosphor layers formed in respective discharge cells. The first electrodes and the second electrodes are formed so as to protrude toward the first substrate in a direction becoming distant form the second substrate and face each other with a space in between.
