PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polycarboxylic acid-based polymer capable of providing an aqueous sealer excellent in impregnating and bonding properties to a substrate and exhibiting good water resistance for a long period, and an aqueous sealer using the polymer. SOLUTION: The polycarboxylic acid-based polymer contains a unit derived from a carboxyl group-containing unsaturated monomer as an essential component and≥1 mol% carboxyl group among total carboxyl groups which the unit has is neutralized with a polyvalent metal.
