PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve further high efficiency in collecting chips by preventing the chips generated during dressing an electrode tip from being scattered outward. SOLUTION: The lower portion of a dressing unit 7 is enveloped in a chip collecting case 21. A gun arm 2 and the electrode tip 4 are inserted into the chip collecting case 21 through an arm insertion opening 21c of the chip collecting case 21. The arm insertion opening 21c is blocked with two brush bodies 29 and 30 which are oppositely placed at a set interval, and the chips generated during dressing are prevented by the brush body 30 from being scattered outward. When the gun arm 2 is backed from the arm insertion opening 21c after dressing, the chips adhering to the brush body 30 are flicked away outward. But the flicked chips are prevented from being scattered outward since they fall along a space 34 formed between both brush bodies 29 and 30 and are collected. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
