PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the deterioration of the quality of a can and the drop of the working rate of an apparatus by easily specifying the breakage of an expansion ring. SOLUTION: This apparatus is provided with a detecting means 40 for detecting the breakage of the expansion ring 30. The detecting means 40 is provided with a passage 41 for checking which communicates with the flow passage 31 of the expansion ring 30 on the apparatus main body 11 and air is supplied from a supply source to the passage 41 for checking at lower pressure ( 0.1 MPa, for example ) than the prescribed pressure. The breakage of the expansion ring 30 is detected by judging whether the ring is expanded or not when the lower pressure air is supplied to the expansion ring 30 through the passage 41 for checking and the flow passage 31 in the state where a worked can is taken out by a taking-out mechanism.
