<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a sintered compact which is capable of adsorbing odors derived from organic matters and microorganisms such as bacteria and mold and effectively decomposing them with the aid of sunlight without producing hazardous materials such as trihalomethane, even in an indoor environment without air circulation or an underwater environment without convection. <P>SOLUTION: An anatase type titanium oxide precursor is mixed with a hydroxyapatite precursor and sintered at 550-800°C with a retention time of ≥15 min to achieve a porosity of 40-75%. Alternatively, an anatase type titanium oxide powder, a carbon powder and a hydroxyapatite powder are mixed in a weight ratio of (1-20%):(1-15%):(the remainder) and sintered at 550-800°C with a retention time of ≥15 min to achieve a porosity of 40-75%. Preferably, the composition ratio of Ca/P in hydroxyapatite is 1.66-1.67, the total content of impurities Na and K is ≤0.5 wt.%, and the apparent density of the sintered compact is ≤1.9. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
