<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain more accurate correlation of a particulate mass, particularly, a soot mass in a particulate filter for an internal combustion engine, particularly, a diesel engine. <P>SOLUTION: This method of regenerating the particulate filter for the internal combustion engine, particularly, the diesel engine, whose particulate accumulation property variable is determined for starting the regeneration, comprises multiplying the accumulation property variable by a compression coefficient to form a corrected accumulation property variable from the accumulation property variable and using the compression coefficient for considering the compression of different particulates as the function of different engine operated conditions to obtain more accurate correlation of the particulate mass. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
