<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a belt retractor for intercepting a power transmission path of a belt pre-tension driving element. <P>SOLUTION: This belt retractor is provided with a belt tension driving element 24 and a pre-tension driving element 28 for applying torque onto a belt spool 13 in the direction of taking up a safety belt 16. The belt retractor for the safety belt 16 has the pre-tension driving element 28 including the belt spool 14 and a driving motor 30 for rotating the belt spool 14 in the winding direction for the purpose of previously tensing the safety belt 16, and a belt tension driving element 24 for driving the belt spool 14 for the purpose of belt tension.
