PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery residual quantity detector which detects the residual quantity of the battery in every battery pack even if it is in such an operation mode that a user uses a plurality of battery packs in turn. SOLUTION: In a portable terminal 11, a charge unit 12 identifies a mounted battery pack 21 by RFID communication. Furthermore, the portable terminal 11 detects the information about the residual quantity of a battery even in either case of the time of power consumption or the time of charge operation while the battery pack 21 is mounted. Then, the portable terminal 11 stores the identification information of the battery pack and the battery residual quantity information, in a holding memory 103 as the newest (present) "information BI about the battery residual quantity" of the battery pack 21 in a state that they are correlated to each other.
