PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a using method capable of efficiently starting a lithium ion secondary battery manufactured in advance. SOLUTION: In this using method, before the use of this lithium ion secondary battery, the battery is treated in a predetermined condition (temperature and time). The processing condition can be controlled by using the thickness of a resistive substance coating film located on a positive electrode surface as a measure. According to this processing method, even the battery kept in a nonuse state for a period of time after previous charge and discharge can exert an excellent discharge capacity from the beginning in the next use.
