PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color picture tube apparatus capable of producing a magnetic field effective against vertical distortion and reducing deflection power with a simple configuration, even with a deflection yoke having a slit-wound saddle coil. SOLUTION: The deflection yoke 6 includes a vertical deflection coil 8, a horizontal deflection coil 7 and an insulating frame 10. The horizontal deflection coil 7 is a saddle-type coil, wherein a bend portion on the side of a screen surface 2a is wound outside the insulating frame 10 about a tube axis of a cathode ray tube 1, and includes a first winding portion 13a located on the side of the screen surface 2a and a second winding portion 13b located closer to an electron gun 5 than the first winding portion 13a along the direction of the tube axis.
