PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a uniform gloss image by forming a stable nip, without causing the fluctuation of the abutting position of a heating roller, even if the center part of a belt tensioning and laying member in an axial direction is bent in a tension direction. SOLUTION: The fixing device is equipped with the heating roller 1, a pressure roller pressed on the heating roller, the belt tensioning and laying member 4 arranged on an upstream side in a paper transport direction with respect to the pressure roller and disposed on the pressure roller through a tension spring, and a belt wound around the outer circumferences of the pressure roller and the belt tensioning and laying member and moving, in a state where a fixing nip is formed between the heating roller and the belt. The abutting surface of the belt tensioning and laying member on the heating roller is a recessed surface going along the surface of the heating roller, and the radius of curvature thereof is set larger than that of the surface of the heating roller.
