PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a piston ring capable of further easily and properly reducing abrasion of an installed ring groove. SOLUTION: This piston ring 14 is formed in an upper side projecting cross-sectional circular arc shape, and its under surface 14a is formed into a curved surface. Such a piston ring 14 absorbs a load by combustion pressure by being elastically deformed in a substantially plate shape when pressed to a lower side surface of a ring groove 11 by the combustion pressure, and relieves bearing pressure received from the piston ring 14 to the lower side surface of the ring groove 11.
