<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily cope with paper jamming by detecting wrapping of paper around a conveying belt, in an image forming apparatus that uses the conveying belt (transfer belt). <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus 10 includes: a photoreceptor drum 11 for forming a toner image on it; the conveying belt 13 for conveying recording paper while attracting it electrostatically; a transfer roller 12 for transferring the toner image onto the recording paper as a transfer image; and a bias voltage application part 21 for applying a transfer bias to the conveying belt. The image forming apparatus separates the recording paper from the conveying belt and sends it to a fixing device 19 for fixing the transfer image. A paper detection sensor 22 is disposed facing the external face of the conveying belt and on the side that is opposite to a photoreceptor drum. When the leading end of the recording paper is detected by the paper detection sensor, a control device 23 displays, on an operation panel or the like, information to the effect that the paper has been detected, or that the paper has been jammed on the back of the conveying belt. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
